What does 1:1 Programming look like?
While it’s hard to really give you the feeling of 1:1 Programming and that personal relationship with a coach, I’m going to give some examples of a week of programming depending on specific situations and client needs!
Keep in mind that these can vary greatly depending on the person for a number of reasons: Access to equipment, Goals, Age, Time Availability, etc.
If you resonate with any of the examples below, try out the week I create for these example clients!
-
Example #1: Client Joe
Joe has a home gym with a barbell, squat rack, and dumbbells. He wants to train 4 days per week, 60 minutes per session. Joe’s number one goal is that he wants to hit a new squat clean PR but he also wants some conditioning twice a week.
-
Example #2: Client Sally
Sally is a stay at home mom and only has access to a kettlebell. She’s pretty busy throughout the day but wants to workout at least 30 minutes Monday-Friday. Her goals are to lose some weight and work on her abs.
-
Example #3: Client Jon
Jon goes to a CrossFit gym and has access to any equipment necessary. He wants to train 5 days a week, with two sessions on Monday and Friday. He is very competitive and wants to try and compete in CrossFit at a high level.
Objections & Common Questions
When paying a premium price for a premium service, naturally there will be a lot of questions and/or objections. I’m going to go over the most common ones that I see!
Why is this a better option than paying for a monthly programming like Rich Froning’s Mayhem or Mat Fraser’s HWPO?
While programs like Mayhem or HWPO are great programs, the issue is that it’s not programmed specifically for you. These programs are created for a general purpose and you just pay to follow along. It is not created to fit your specific goals, it is not created based off of the equipment you have access to, and ultimately you do not have a coach that you can reach out to at any time. 1:1 Programming is like having a cheat code for reaching your goals. Have to travel unexpectedly for the rest of the week and will only have a hotel gym? Text your coach and they will revamp the rest of your week, all while keeping your specific goals in mind.
Why is 1:1 Programming so expensive?
1:1 Personalized Programming is a premium service and it takes the coach a lot of time and effort to create your programming. It is a convenience that also happens to be the quickest and most effective way to reach your fitness goals.
Why do we go out to eat for lunch and/or dinner and pay a premium for something we could make on our own at a cheaper price? Here are some reasons:
It’s convenient
Saves us time and energy
Better quality than if we made it
We get what we want
These same reasons also apply when you hire a coach for 1:1 Programming. The only difference is that you get much more than that! Alongside all of the quality benefits, you get a coach that you have 24/7 access to.
Why do I need 1:1 Programming if I go to a CrossFit Gym already?
CrossFit gyms are some of the best ways to make training truly enjoyable. The community aspect is great! While the community is awesome, the gym programming may not be enough for you to reach your goals. Do you want to finally get that first pull-up? Finally get that first muscle up? Squat Clean 300 pounds? It’s most likely going to take more than just class work. Again, the gym programming isn’t designed specifically for you and your goals.
Do you want to compete? That takes a lot of well thought out programming for your individual strengths and weaknesses. A coach creates programming specifically designed to improve those weaknesses and keep those strengths getting stronger!
Maybe it’s tough to make it to class times every day and sometimes working out at your home gym is more convenient. A coach can program your home gym days so that it fits your timing and needs perfectly!
I don’t have access to much equipment, Is 1:1 Programming still worth it?
If you want the convenience, accountability, and goal progression, then absolutely. It doesn’t take much equipment to effectively program. A coach takes everything into account and works well with what you have access to!
How does Remote 1:1 Programming differ from In-Person Personal Training?
While In-Person Personal Training can be highly effective for certain people, it can get extremely expensive. Just two sessions of personal training can cost you more than a month of Remote 1:1 Programming with a fraction of the value.
In-Person Personal Training is typically $40-$60 for ONE 60 minute session. With Remote 1:1 Programming, you typically pay anywhere from $100-$250 per month for upwards of 30 sessions. The only difference is your coach is not in person while you train and any questions on technique, you will have to video and send it to them.
Remote 1:1 Personal Programming also allows you to be much more consistent. It’s much better to follow 3-5 structured days of programming each week at a reasonable monthly rate than one $60 one hour session per week with In-Person Personal Training.
More to Come!
